Soggy Saturday

Seamus had his soccer game today after it rained practically ever day this week. The field was like walking on a sponge with puddles scattered around. We dressed Liam, Aidan, and Brendan in their snowsuits since it was cold and we expected them to get muddy. Good call. They did get muddy alright, Aidan and Liam each fell and got quite muddy and wet. The snowsuits paid off. Liam was pretty good at the soccer game. Towards the end of the game Liam and the twins were cold so Jill took them back to the van. Seamus had one heck of a game today. He and his buddy Eli worked together very well on the field. Since they play together so much it was neat to see the two of them working with each other passing the ball. Seamus ended up with 5 goals and Eli 2. We were very proud of how well he played given the soggy conditions.

This afternoon Liam had a few bouts of anxiety where he would get upset and have tantrums as a result. Liam and the twins eventually took a nap. Since it started to clear up I decided to cut the grass. Just as I went to cut the grass they started waking up. I told them to stay in the house while I went out to cut the grass. I was a bit nervous so I kept checking on them once in a while. I am very happy to say they were very well behaved. As I was finishing the back yard Jill got home and fed them. Jill brought them out and they were all very well behaved. Liam only had one meltdown as he was insistent upon having a can of pop. Jill and I said no since he had some at dinner. His tantrum only lasted a couple minutes. When we came in we got their pajamas on. Jill was going out so while she was getting ready it was a bit disruptive to the boys routine so none of them went to bed until after she left at 9pm.

Overall it wasn't a bad day for Liam. He continued to have periods of anxiety and tantrums, but not as many as other days. Jill has put up a picture schedule for Liam and we have started using it. Since we are just beginning we will start finding out what works best for Liam and may not. We already know several things we need to get pictures for. With me going out of town this week we will put my picture on an airplane and tell Liam that is where daddy is. We have a puzzle map of the US and we will show him where I am going in Portland, Oregon. We do not know if he will grasp what it really means, but we hope it will help comfort him knowing I am away. Hopefully next week goes well for him.
