Another so-so day at school

Liam's teacher reported to Jill today that he had another day of periods of high anxiety. She was able to let Liam cope with it by letting him go off on his own to an area removed from the rest of the class. They have been trying to have Liam leave his blanket home instead of having it in class. His teacher suggested we let him have it back to help comfort him. Jill and I had the same idea.

Jill called his neurologist today. One thing Jill and I will say about her is that she truly cares about the well being of Liam. She is also very personable when Jill and I have spoken to her and that is comforting given her profession and the number of families and patients she deals with. Jill explained how Liam has been and after listening she decided to increase the dose of risperdal at night. Liam took 1 tablet of risperdal tonight and will take a 1/2 tablet in the morning. Hopefully this increased dose will make a difference. We shall see how he does in the next couple of weeks.

This evening Liam had his OT therapy at Lifeworks. Liam did not have a good session again. This time half way through the session Liam again started crying and asking for mommy, who was sitting next to him. Once Jill comforted him and said she was right there, Liam then started asking for daddy. His OT would have none of it and kept working with Liam. Liam would go from paying attention to showing signs of anxiety. As soon as his OT saw this starting he would quickly work to get Liam focused back to what he was doing. This repeated it until the end of the session. When Liam got home he was in a good mood. He got ready for bed, took his risperdal, and was in bed by 9.

Time for a new beginning tomorrow. We will see how he does.
