Fits n tantrums
Monday Liam seemed to have a pretty good day at school. When he came he seemed to be in good spirits and wasn’t too bad during the afternoon. When I got home Liam was already for soccer practice. We had a couple hours before we had to leave. We had dinner and right after Liam ate he was ready for soccer. He kept telling me he was ready to go while I was eating. When he was told to wait he kept having little fits. He would whine, cry, and scream, that he wanted to go. He would then play for a short time, then start again about soccer. We finally let Liam go outside with Seamus. That helped settle him down.
When we left for soccer we knew it would be an interesting practice as Coach Carr would not be there. I could not stick around to help with Liam as the team I help coach had practice at the same time. I kept looking over at Liam’s practice and saw him participating. It looked like he was doing well on his own. About halfway through the practice I see Liam running over to Seamus’ practice. I asked him what he was doing and he said he was done. He wanted to stay with me. Clearly Liam did stick around at his practice because Coach Carr was not there. Coach Carr who is also a friend, knows how to handle Liam. Liam really likes him and listens to him very well. Expecting what I did from Liam I let him stick around with me at Seamus’ practice. He ended up actually partaking in a couple of drills with Seamus’ team. Liam was pretty tired after school and soccer practice. He went to sleep quite easily Monday night.
Tuesday was a different story. From the time Liam got home from school he was quite difficult with just about anything he did. To make matters worse for Jill, Aidan never made it to school. He got sick in Grandpa McCourt’s car. When he got home he threw up a couple more times and was running a fever. Jill had no one to stay home with Aidan while she went and picked up Liam and Seamus from school. Jill got Liam in the van right on schedule and noticed Seamus was nowhere to be found. Liam’s teacher went in to ask Seamus’ teacher where he was and she said on the bus going home. That was when they realized the mistake. They radioed the bus and it brought Seamus back to school. While she was waiting for Seamus, Aidan threw up in the van. Jill ended up getting home and had to clean that mess up. The whole time she was doing this Liam was screeching at his brothers for any reason. Liam never ended up taking a nap all afternoon.
When I got home we ate dinner and Liam right away started with the fit about having to wait for us to go outside. We ended up letting him out just to keep the peace. He ended up going to our neighbors house, and Kelly’s of course, but she was not home. He came back home and a couple other neighbor’s kids came over played in our yard. Liam was having a lot of fun as the boys were rough housing. Liam loves large motor activity. Liam wanted to play baseball with me. I tossed him the ball, he would swing, miss, and scream. This repeated itself over and over while we did this. Jill had to run to the store to get Aidan some medicine for his fever. Shortly after she left Seamus and his friend Eli went to another friend’s house. Suddenly Liam started to want to go see Seamus. When told no he would scream and cry. He would then want mommy in the same breath. Liam ended up having a fit that lasted for about 1 hour and 45 minutes. When Seamus came home Liam settled down enough to talk him into taking a bath. I let him bathe alone so he could mellow out. Liam asked to bathe with the lights off, so I said sure to make him happy. When he came out of the bath he was ok until he came downstairs and saw a Disney commercial that he thought said a Raven Halloween episode was on at his bedtime. When I informed him he had to go to bed at that time, he had a meltdown. He ended up laying the family room floor kicking and screaming. When I tried to pick him up he started to slap and kick me. I held him so he could not do either. We got upstairs and sat in the rocking chair. He continued to scream and cry as I held him. Within about 20 minutes Liam was asleep. I’m sure part of his problem was no nap, but the way he was tonight is also another typical day every now and then. Each day is certainly a new adventure!
