Party day!

Saturday was a busy day. Seamus had his first indoor soccer game at 8am. He did excellent as always scoring 3 goals. Coaching him is a lot of fun. The one thing I really to work with him on is saving his energy out there. Indoor soccer is played in 2, 20 minute halves. Seamus was all over place with the ball. He was exhausted by the mid-point of the second half. If he can learn to just play his position and be patient, he will have more energy and be able to have the bursts of speed indoor soccer requires. It will be a fun and exciting season for sure!

Saturday afternoon we had a party way out in Medina (45 minutes away) at our friend’s Matt & Dani’s new log cabin home. There were going to be a lot of kids there so it was definitely going to be fun. The day couldn’t have been a more beautiful November day. It was 71 degrees, a bit cloudy, and no wind to speak of. There were so many kids there that we have to keep checking on the boys just to make sure we knew where they were. All the kids played so well together it gave us parents some time to hang out, relax, and enjoy some cocktails. One observation Jill and I made was with Liam. Despite the number of kids that were there, Liam just went about his own thing. He would occasionally play with Seamus and a few other boys, but for the most part he would just wander around and play by himself. A few times he would wander in the living room and ask to put a movie on. He was easily denied and some of the men were watching the Ohio State game, and Notre Dame’s football games. He took it all well and just did something else. The boys all had a great time on a hayride. They all had even more fun when a huge bonfire was started. The night was so pleasant out it was a shame we had to come home early so Jill and I could attend another party. The boys were clearly exhausted on the way home. The ride home gave them a nap. They were all awake, but sleepy, for Jill’s parents when we left.

Sunday the boys were up bright and early of course. It was way too early for Jill and I who got home late. I got up and got the day started for the boys, thank god for Starbucks coffee! Liam seemed unusually hyper and active this morning. He was racing all around, was loud, and quite physical in his play with his brothers. I quickly gave him his medication after breakfast and that seemed to have little affect. He ran around all morning with all kinds of large motor play. We tried figure out if it was something he ate, but we couldn’t think of anything. He may have just been over tired. Around 1230 Liam wanted to sit with me in the recliner. In less than 15 minutes he was sound asleep. He ended up taking a 2.5 hour nap. Aidan and Brendan also took a nap during that time. They were all clearly still tired from Saturday’s fun. Liam was much calmer after his nap. I was home with Liam, Aidan, and Brendan, while Jill and Seamus were out at the store. A friend of mine from work brought over some toys his son no longer play with. Liam and the twins had a field day with all the new trucks. Jill brought pizza home and the boys chowed that down. It was shortly after that Liam told me he was ready for his bath and bed. We will see what this week holds in store. I am going to be out of town this coming week so we’ll see how Liam does.
